Bony moves to Stoke on season-long loan

Manchester City flop Wilfried Bony has joined fellow Premier League side Stoke City on a season-long loan.

Everton and West Ham were both closely linked with a move for Bony, but Stoke, who failed in a bid to sign highly-rated West Brom striker Saido Berhaino to the club, have confirmed the signing of the 27-year-old.

Bony has not featured under new manager Pep Guardiola and was omitted from the club’s Champions League squad for their play-off match with Steaua Bucharest.

Since moving to City from Swansea in January 2015, Bony has made 46 appearances, scoring 10 goals. However, the Ivorian frontman failed to live up to £28m price tag and could not cement a place in the starting line-up.

During his first full season at the club, Iheanacho leapfrogged Bony in the pecking order at the Etihad and all but ended his chances of repairing his reputation among City supporters.
