  • At least five squad members will be heading off once the window opens

Manchester City will be making some new signings this summer, but that means the club will need to sell some existing players.

Here are five current members of the Man City squad who are likely to leave at some point during the summer transfer window.

James Trafford

Man City would be unwise to sell Trafford, considering he is a locally-trained and homegrown goalkeeper with heaps of potential.

The shot-stopper kept clean sheets in both domestic cup finals, and he is still only 23 years old, making him four years younger than Gianluigi Donnarumma.

However, Man City have already made plans to replace Trafford with Pierce Charles, with Spurs and Aston Villa both interested in acquiring his services.

Tijjani Reijnders

In his most recent Instagram post, Reijnders signed off with a ‘see you next season’ message to the Man City supporters.

But the Dutchman found himself on the bench a lot during the second half of the campaign, and may go looking elsewhere to secure more regular starts.

Several clubs have shown an interest in Reijnders, and it does seem like he could depart the Citizens after only one season.

Nico Gonzalez

This is a player who finds himself in a similar situation to Reijnders. Gonzalez started two fewer Premier League matches, and was left out of City’s FA Cup final squad, despite scoring the goal which got them there.

The arrival of a new manager could work in his favour, but Man City have been linked with multiple midfielders.

Bernardo Silva will certainly be replaced, and it would not be surprising if the club added another midfielder to their ranks, leaving Gonzalez very much on the fringes.

Savinho

Pep Guardiola ensured that Savinho did not join Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but proceeded to barely play him throughout the season.

The Brazilian is still receiving interest from Spurs, and this time a move seems highly likely to take place.

Savinho is not going to start ahead of Jeremy Doku or Antoine Semenyo, so if City can get £60m for him, they would surely look to sell up.

Omar Marmoush

Julian Alvarez was a top striker, but he knew he was never going to be starting ahead of Erling Haaland, leading to his eventual departure.

Marmoush is in a similar position, and at 27 years old, he will be wanting to play as much first-team football as possible.

The Egyptian scored eight goals this season, and this figure could have been so much higher if he was playing on a weekly basis.

Ahead of the summer transfer window, Marmoush has admirers in Europe and Saudi Arabia. Therefore, he may well leave City, and a move to Aston Villa is a possibility.

When does the summer transfer window open?

Man City will be free to begin signing players on Monday, June 15. The transfer window will remain open until Tuesday, September 1, when it slams shut at 11pm BST.
