Real Madrid defender Pepe is reportedly ready to turn down a switch to the Chinese Super League in favour of a move to either PSG or Manchester City this summer.
According to a report from Spanish news outlet Marca, the Portugal international has changed his mind over a move to China and now has his sights firmly set on remaining in Europe but with a new challenge elsewhere.
Pepe has been a mainstay in Real Madrid’s side for some years now but will now seek pastures new, with his deal at the Bernabeu set to expire at the end of the season.

It’s claimed by Marca that the predominant reason for the 34-year-old having second thoughts on a move to China is in order to maintain his international career. The Real defender is keen to be in contention for the 2018 World Cup with Portugal and fears that if he is playing outside of Europe, he will not be under such consideration.
City will now look to try and persuade Pepe to move to the Etihad as Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his side’s defence.
