- Pep Guardiola has a fresh post-City appearance lined up
- The former Man City boss will return to Spain soon
- Several major sporting names are set to be involved
Pep Guardiola’s first steps away from Manchester City will not take him too far away from elite sporting company.
The former Man City manager has not hidden the fact that he needs distance from the demands of club management.
After a decade built around tactical preparation and title races, Guardiola’s immediate post-City schedule was always likely to be closely watched.
However, rather than moving straight into another football role, the Catalan is set to return to Spain for a charity sporting event.
Pep Guardiola set for charity golf appearance
According to The Sun, Guardiola will take part in the Battle of Stars charity golf tournament in Mallorca. The event will take place from June 10 to June 12.
The tournament will be held across the Pula Golf Resort and Son Servera Golf Club. Guardiola will also be joined by several major names from sport, including Rafael Nadal, Gianfranco Zola, Alvaro Morata, Pepe Reina and Henrik Larsson.
The tournament will raise funds to support research and treatment for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and multiple sclerosis.
More names from sport and entertainment are also expected to be announced before the event gets underway.
Guardiola’s first post-City appearance keeps him close to sport
A charity golf tournament in Mallorca gives Guardiola a softer public setting rather than a high-pressure football management role.
Likewise, it will be the manager’s first public appearance in a sporting event after ending his decade-long stint at the Etihad.
Given Guardiola’s long-standing interest in golf, the sport could become the main focus during his break from football.
Guardiola remains a major draw beyond football
The event is set to bring together major figures from different sports, with more invitees expected to be announced soon.
Likewise, Guardiola’s involvement remains notable as the Catalan manager adds profile to major sporting events outside football.
While the gaffer might not be on the touchline anymore, his profile continues to draw attention beyond the football pitch.
