Manchester City are reportedly closing in on a major deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, with the England international expected to undergo a medical in the United States as talks move towards a package worth around £130million.
The 21-year-old is currently with England at the 2026 World Cup, but City’s pursuit has accelerated during the tournament. Nottingham Forest have already rejected earlier offers, with owner Evangelos Marinakis understood to be pushing for a stronger upfront structure before sanctioning a sale.
Anderson has become one of the summer’s defining transfer names after an outstanding season at Forest and an eye-catching start to England’s World Cup campaign. City have been looking for a long-term midfield addition after Bernardo Silva’s departure, and Anderson’s ball-carrying, aggression and versatility have made him a priority target.
Anderson Move Would Reshape City’s Midfield Plan
The latest update, reported by The Sun, claims both clubs now believe an agreement is close, with Anderson keen on the move despite wider interest.
For City, the timing matters. Completing the deal while Anderson is still in the United States would allow them to settle a key midfield question before pre-season planning fully begins.
The fee would also underline how strongly City view Anderson’s ceiling. If finalised near the reported figure, it would place him among the most expensive Premier League signings ever and make him a central figure in the club’s next midfield cycle.
