Demichelis tips City for title

It’s been a mixed two years for Martin Demichelis at Manchester City, winning the Premier League title in his first season before enduring a trophyless campaign last time round. However, the Argentina defender believes that his club are set to get back up and win the title once again this season, which would make it the third time in five years.

Demichelis came in for criticism during his first few months at Manchester City, but following a sending off for Vincent Kompany at Hull’s KC Stadium in March 2014, the former Atletico Madrid man was able to help City power to the league title in his first year with the club. The defence as a whole is now being more heavily criticised than Demichelis himself, and has even been criticised following a 4-2 friendly defeat against Stuttgart in pre-season, but Demichelis thinks it won’t be a problem in City’s title challenge.

Speaking to Sky Sports (as quoted by SportsMole), Demichelis said “There are tough teams every year involved in the fight and what we want to do is beat them so we know that teams such as Chelsea, United and Arsenal are going to be there.”

“We will fight against them and our intention is to win, yes, we are favourites.”

Manchester City have already made four signings this window, but could bring in Kevin De Bruyne before the window shuts.
